Course Overview

Career engagement sets the stage for individuals to take ownership for career development. Participants learn the meaning and importance of career engagement and identify ways that personal career development can help them remain engaged, fulfilled, and challenged in an organization. Tools such as self- assessments, organization assessments, and career maps are presented.


  1. Identify existing knowledge, skills, abilities, and values
  2. Recognize the fit between the organization’s mission, vision, and values and the participant’s career direction
  3. Establish meaningful career goals
  4. Create and implement a personal career development plan

  • Examine the mission, vision values, strategies, changes of an organization

Lesson 4: Setting Career Goals

  • Research the organization
  • Develop an internal network
  • Explore interim and permanent assignments

Lesson 5: Creating and Implementing a Career Development Plan

  • Create a Career development plan to include goals, actions and timeline for skill building, education, and internal development
