Course Overview

This seminar focuses leaders on resolving conflict in appropriate and creative ways, with less stress. Recognizing the sources of conflict, identifying conflict management styles, and applying conflict management strategies can help leaders build relationships and minimize the disruption conflict often causes.

Objectives

  1. Identify factors that contribute to conflict personally and professionally.
  2. Determine recommended approaches for resolving conflict in the workplace.
  3. Understand their role in “owning” conflict, response, and resolution.

Lesson 1: Identify factors that contribute to conflict

  • Identify and discuss sources of conflict (emotion, perception, judging, etc.)
  • Describe your personal reaction in handling conflict in the workplace
  • Understand healthy versus unhealthy conflict

Lesson 2: Approaches for resolving conflict in the workplace

  • Show awareness of competition
  • Understand compromise and accommodation when disagreeing
  • Demonstrate collaborative practices and resolve tension

Lesson 3: Owning conflict, response, and resolution

  • Complete assessment on “Conflict and Conflict Management” to better understand preferred style of management
  • Gain a better understanding to the situation, reaction, and response
  • Identify Win/Lose versus Win/Win situations
  • Improve Conflict Listening on the job
