Course Overview

A variety of personnel factors affects the success of organizations. By exploring best practices for HR management, participants acquire progressive techniques to effectively coach, counsel, and communicate expectations to employees in order to improve performance and avoid costly lawsuits. Participants will understand the function of human resource management as a vehicle designed to maximize employee performance in service of an employer’s strategic objectives.

  2. Identify organizational cultural parameters for interaction between employees and customers
  3. Define the support functions of an effective human resources department

Lesson 1: Organizational Culture

  • Set policy, procedures and company standards for acceptable behavior
  • Design parameters for the way an organization interacts with one another and customers
  • Ensure the mission, vision, and values of the organization are ingrained in the company culture

Lesson 2: Planning For Change

  • Stabilize the company for change
  • Help employees understand their role in change
  • Provide support and resources for employees during the change
  • Develop plans for disasters and work disruption

Lesson 3: Training and Development

  • Policies and procedures communicated during the employee onboarding process
  • Maintain individual development plans for ongoing employee training
  • Responsible for offering continuing employee education

Lesson 4: Health and Safety

  • Ensure health and safety in the workplace
  • Mitigates physical, mental, and organizational risks
  • Provide resources for health plans and services

Lesson 5: Recruitment and Retention

  • Find a qualified workforce
  • Provide incentives for further education, benefits, and compensation
  • Keep them engaged within the organization
  • Provide training so they can effectively do their jobs
